FS and Poste Italiane sign two agreements for digitalization in passenger and freight transport
Signed a Memorandum of Understanding between FS, Poste Italiane, Trenitalia and PostePay and a Letter of Intent between FS, Poste Italiane, Mercitalia Logistics and sender
Rome, 14 March, 2024 – The FS Group and Poste Italiane have today signed two separate agreements, a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of passenger transport and a Letter of Intent in the field of freight transport, with the aim of developing sustainable, innovative and digital solutions to simplify people's travel experiences and enhance intermodality in logistics.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Luigi Ferraris, CEO of FS Italiane Group, Matteo Del Fante, CEO of Poste Italiane, Luigi Corradi, CEO of Trenitalia and Marco Siracusano, CEO of PostePay. The agreement aims to promote the development of joint solutions in the electronic payments sector to make the purchase of travel tickets from physical and online channels even simpler and more immediate.

In particular, Mercitalia Logistics, the lead company of the FS Group's Logistics Hub and sennder, a German company active in the digitalization of road freight transport and partner of Poste Italiane, will collaborate to expand the logistics network of intermodal freight transport in Europe.
The partnership aims to improve the competitive offer of both companies, guaranteeing intermodal, innovative and sustainable logistics solutions in Europe, which combine the railway services of the Logistics Hub with those of first-last mile road with sennder's green vehicles.
