FS Logistix and Logtainer: freight rail services from the ports of Genoa and Vado to Verona and Milan now in operation
After the partnership signed between FS Logistix and Logtainer, freight rail links between the ports of Genoa and Vado Ligure and the Verona Quadrante Europa and Milano Segrate terminals are now up and running.
The agreement, signed by the CEOs of the two companies, Sabrina De Filippis and Paolo Montanari, will significantly strengthen sea-rail inter-modal transport and support freight flows to/from the Ligurian ports: by ship, goods are loaded directly onto Mercitalia Rail trains and transported to Verona or Milan, and from there on to their final destinations in Italy and across Europe.
The partnership between FS Group’s logistics company and the intermodal operator controlled by the GIP 2.0 Group is evolving into an even more tangible industrial synergy, moving beyond the traction field alone to focus on core logistics management aspects. By reaching the Segrate and Verona hubs, goods will also have access to the intermodal network connected to central and northern Europe, thus linking the Ligurian ports to the main terminals and ports on the continent in an effective manner. In this shared vision, rail transport will become the backbone of sea trade flows, strengthening the integration between ports, inland terminals and the market, and contributing to more efficient, competitive and sustainable logistics.
These services complement the commercial agreement signed in May 2025 by FS Logistix and Logtainer for the development of intermodal sea logistics. The former agreement provided for the integration of complementary expertise to launch rail-road transport solutions across an ever-expanding market network, characterised by high frequency and high service quality, with FS Logistix in charge of the rail component and Logtainer acting as a single market retail mediator.
