New Award for the Smart Train Project

The Logistics Hub of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group celebrates another major milestone with the award received from the Austrian Ministry of Labour and Economy for the Smart Train project.

 

Developed by Mercitalia Intermodal in collaboration with PJM, the project ranked among the top five— and was the only one from the rail sector— in the national engineering consultancy competition.

 

Smart Train is based on the development and implementation of an integrated technological monitoring system installed on freight wagons.

 

This advanced system enables automation of operational processes through communication between the wagon and on-board and ground personnel, constant monitoring of the train's operating parameters and wagon condition, as well as condition-based maintenance models.

 

We are very proud that "Smart Train" was recognized by such an expert jury.
