New Connections begin for Transporting Frecciarossa 1000 Trains

Two trips from the Hitachi Rail plant in Pistoia to the Velim Test Center in the Czech Republic

Pistoia, 21 October 2024 - Mercitalia Rail, part of FS Group's Polo Logistica, has launched the connections for transporting the new Frecciarossa 1000 trains from Trenitalia, from the Hitachi Rail factory in Pistoia to the Velim Test Center in the Czech Republic.

Two trips have already been made to transport the ETR1000 towards the Velim test circuit, including one of the new Frecciarossa trains showcased at the end of September at Innotrans, the Berlin transport fair. In the coming months, return trips to Pistoia will be carried out, along with additional connections to other Italian sites for train certification.

Each Frecciarossa 1000 transported to the Czech Republic consists of eight carriages and two buffer wagons, with a length of approximately 200 meters and a weight of over 450 tons. At Innotrans, a shorter version of the train was transported, consisting of four carriages and two buffer wagons, with a total length of 130 meters and a weight of 280 tons.

These services are part of a tender awarded to Mercitalia Rail by Hitachi Rail in recent months.

With this award, Mercitalia Rail strengthens its leadership in the field of exceptional and special rail transport.
