Polo Logistica: 4 new intermodal trains between Duisburg and Padua
Polo Logistica expands its intermodal transport network by launching a new connection between Duisburg and Padua through its subsidiary TX Logistik. Starting from May 2, four weekly round trips with 32 loading units per train will be operated.
The service, which transports truck trailers with all types of goods, will operate as an open train system. The main client is the Italian transportation and logistics service provider Trans Italia, based in Salerno. All services related to this new route will be managed and controlled by TX Logistik. The route runs from Germany to Italy, passing through Switzerland, and reaches Padua in the Veneto region. Here, Interporto Padova manages a modern rail terminal, handling about 275,000 TEU annually between road and rail. In Germany, the combined transport terminal at the Duisburg-Hohenbudberg site of Logport III is served, managed since March 20 by TX Logistik along with two partners through the newly formed company "Ziel Terminal GmbH."
For TX Logistik, responsible for international rail freight transport within Polo Logistica of the FS Group, Padua represents an important expansion of the European network. The city is located just about 25 kilometers from Venice, where short-sea shipping connections to the Balkans are available. At the same time, Veneto is the third-largest Italian region for exports, with Germany as its main trade partner. This provides good opportunities to shift more goods from road to rail.
