Polo Logistica, increasing freight traffic between Germany and Italy

TX Logistik AG is further expanding its intermodal connections between Germany and Italy. Starting on February 21, the railway logistics company (Polo Logistica– FS Italiane Group) will increase the number of weekly round-trip services between Rostock and Verona from four to six. The reason for the increased frequency is the rising demand for trailer transport by rail.

In the early weeks of the year, TX Logistik has already increased the number of trains to Italy on other routes. The connection between Leipzig and Sommacampagna-Sona, a few kilometers west of Verona, has been increased with two additional round trips, from eight to ten per week. Further intermodal trains also run from Lübeck to Northern Italy. Between the Baltic Rail Gate in the Hanseatic city and the Quadrante Europa terminal in Verona, TX has added an additional eighth round-trip to the service.

For the second connection from Lübeck to the metropolitan area of Milan, the number of round trips has been increased from two to four. Instead of Melzo, the Segrate terminal will now be served. The terminal is even closer to the Milan metropolis and the industrial areas of Bergamo and Brescia. Additionally, numerous Mercitalia connections are available from here to other destinations on the Italian railway network, such as Rome, Naples, and Sicily.
