FS Logistix: Rail links start to transport Milan's new metro trains

Mercitalia Rail, a company of the FS Group's FS Logistix, has launched rail links for the transport of new trains destined for the Milan Metro.
The trains are manufactured by Hitachi Rail at the Reggio Calabria plant and will be used by ATM for the M1 line of Milan.
Over the next few years, 46 journeys are planned from the Calabrian capital to Milan to transport the same number of trains. Each convoy consists of 6 cars and two shielded wagons, with a length of approximately 106 meters and a weight of over 180 tons. Once the trains arrive at Milan Smistamento by rail, they will be transferred to the Precotto and Rogoredo depots via exceptional road transport.
These services are part of a tender recently awarded to Mercitalia Rail by Hitachi Rail, further consolidating its leadership in the exceptional and special rail transport sector.
