Tx Logistik: The European Commission Has Approved the Joint Venture with Samskip and Duisport

The joint venture between Tx Logistik, a company of the FS Italiane Group, and Duisport and Samskip—aimed at managing the bimodal road-rail terminal in Duisburg—has been approved by the European Commission. The intermodal transport terminal will include seven transshipment tracks, each 720 meters long, two shunting tracks, and two high-performance gantry cranes for road-rail transshipment, with an annual handling capacity of 250,000 load units.

The terminal’s location in the heart of Germany makes this industrial district strategically important. Additionally, its state-of-the-art infrastructure—such as a modern control tower that enables advanced planning of terminal activities, and high electronic scanning standards—promotes integrated logistics between road and rail.

This partnership marks another major step forward for the FS Group’s Logistics Hub, which aims to double rail freight volumes by 2030, in line with the FS Italiane Group’s Industrial Plan.

For the first time, the FS Group’s Logistics Hub will directly manage a terminal in Europe.
