TX Logistik doubles frequency on Sweden–Italy route
The company of FS Logistix, has increased the number of weekly departures on the rail link between Sweden and Italy by one to a total of two with effect from 1 October. The route, which is operated as a dedicated block train service for the Finnish logistics company Nurminen Logistics, connects Frövi in the Örebro region of central Sweden with Castelguelfo in the northern Italian province of Parma. At around 2,500 kilometres, it is the longest continuous corridor in TX Logistik’s European network.
“Given the current difficult market conditions for rail freight transport, it is by no means a given that we have been able to operate the service reliably and, together with Nurminen, have now even expanded it,” says Gian Paolo Gotelli, CEO of TX Logistik. The route, which runs through Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark and Sweden, was launched at the end of February 2026. “The second weekly service offers customers greater capacity and even greater flexibility in planning their supply chains,” comments Marjut Linnajärvi, Vice President of International Rail Operations and Sales at Nurminen Logistics.
The increased frequency is intended to reduce waiting times and further improve connections to road and sea transport. In addition, a more flexible fleet of wagons will be used in future, capable of transporting both dangerous goods and a wider range of container types. Currently, the train – which is more than 500 metres long in regular service – mainly carries containers of food, beverages, tiles, pulp, wood, paper and steel, as well as other goods. However, part-loads can also be easily integrated into the block train.
The route to Sweden runs from Castelguelfo via Chiasso, Basel, Hamburg, Padborg, the Öresund Bridge and Malmö to Frövi. TX Logistik is responsible for all traction services using modern multi-system locomotives. With a transit time of around two to three days, the route offers a fast alternative to long-distance road transport between Italy and Sweden and is also significantly lower in emissions.
