THE BUSINESS CHALLENGE
After the four-year agreement (2019-2022), which saw FS Logistix and the Marcegaglia group collaborate on the development of a new service for the rail transport of steel in Italy and abroad and which saw around 30 trains active per week which also brought clear benefits in terms of environmental sustainability, in recent months a new agreement was signed for the construction of terminals and railway connections in the industrial area of Mantua.
THE TRANSFORMATION
The project will allow the construction of a new railway connection of approximately 11 km between the Castellucchio station and the Marcegaglia factory in Gazoldo degli Ippoliti, in the province of Mantua. To this will be added, subsequently, the construction of a new railway terminal serving the industrial area of the municipalities of Gazoldo degli Ippoliti and Rodigo. The infrastructure work will increase the use of rail transport, making it possible to reduce truck traffic on the roads of the province of Mantua.
The project has a dual objective: environmental sustainability, because it will effectively contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases and other harmful substances emitted into the atmosphere by road transport; and greater road safety, because a single train takes 30 trucks off the road, ensuring greater safety conditions for goods transport, but also for all those who use cars for their travels.
